Specs Increase Sugar Long Position9/28/2010 8:52 AM

On Friday (24), CFTC disclosed the report with funds position in commodities contracts, which indicated growth in spec funds sugar long position, which partially contributed to recent high in sugar.

In this report, spec funds held net long position of 156 thousand lots on Tuesday (21), 12% up from the prior week. Since early September, these funds improved 30% their long position.

Nevertheless, besides sugar, many commodities have attracted spec interest since early month, such as crude oil, gasoline, corn, soy and others.

Different from Spec funds, Index funds have posted slight change since early month. Their position in sugar lots went from 178 thousand in early September to 172 thousand on the 21st.
